William R. Helfrich Jr, MD (Retired)
Dr. Helfrich is a graduate of St. Michael’s College and received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. He completed his surgical internship and surgical and urological residencies at Boston City Hospital.
Prior to founding South Shore Urology, Dr. Helfrich served at Kentucky Army Hospital as Chief of Urology at Fort Campbell. In 1976, He opened South Shore Urology and grew the office to eight urologists on staff.
During his career, Dr. Helfrich has served as president of the medical staff at Quincy Hospital, president of the Massachusetts Medical Society, Chief of Urology at Quincy Hospital, and Chief of Surgery at South Shore Hospital.
Since retiring in the fall of 2015, Dr. Helfrich enjoys traveling, golfing, and spending time with his family.
